99 FRC system install (pics)

99 FRC
Headunit: Alpine 9886
Amp: Elemental Designs Nine.4
Components: JL Audio CS-650
Baffles: homemade
Subwoofer: undetermined at this time but most likely 2 8's in corner boxes
Also have a shorty antenna, eBay Bluetooth module, LEDs under dash, and 2 LED bolts in trunk for illumination
Also installed a Viper 211 keyless entry system due to the high cost of remotes for the older cars

FRC on the way home from NewYork

Driver side speaker and tweeter installed, crossover is under the dash on their respective sides. Above the speakers you can see the lock, unlock, and disarm wire ran into the door of aftermarket keyless entry. My factory fobs weren't working and I was able to put a viper unit in with two remotes for 25 dollars versus new remotes with limited range for far more money.

Passenger side speaker

One of the crossovers mounted under the dash

Amp mounted under the passenger seat, it really should be a little bit further forward as the bottom of the back of the seat will hit it unless all the way back, it made getting the seat in a bit tricky. 6 foot rcas feed it from the head unit. Front components are ran off of two of the channels, and the reads are bridged for the sub. 8ga power coming from the auxilary stud under the hood, and grounded next to the seatbelt retractor deal under pillar.

View of the amp from the front of passenger seat

First power up of the head unit. Grabbed dimmer wire from hvac unit power, accessory, and ground all pulled from the 3 wire connector in passenger floorboard.

Bought one of these 10 dollar eBay special Bluetooth modules and put it in a small enclosure and wired it into the head unit and hid it behind the dash for Bluetooth audio.

Dash put back together

Shorty antenna

LED bolts installed in the trunk. Being an FRC it doesn't have trunk lighting so I added these as a low buck alternative. Work awesome and look very much stock but the pictures don't do it justice.
Still breaking in the speakers and dialing the system in but it sounds great for a low buck setup. I literally had everything already except the speakers which Dennis at DD Mods hooked me up with. Currently just have spare 8" sub in center cubby until I figure out a permanent setup. Sounds 100x better then stock and very stealthy install which is what I was going for.

Right now I'm sitting in my hotel room 6 miles from the NCM. I'm doing R8C on a new coupe tomorrow, so I'll be starting over in a C7 soon

BTW, who's the dude in your rear window

Nice install!
