I am adding a subwoofer to my 2007 factory Bose system with NAV. I bought the self powered Kenwood sub. Wanted something small and compact to round out the sound so I bought it. Whats the easiest way to connect it? can I tap into the rear speakers or do I need a converter added to the head unit with rca outs?
The rears don't have the full bass signal in them. You could connect there, and it will work some, but it won't be as good as it could be.
Best way is to make the Add-GM24 adapter harness. This link has instructons, but the pics and a few links don't work right. If you have questions just post here.
I read that thread and Thekomoman said : PAC AOEM-GM24 adapter adds cost and worse, adds an ugly EQ curve that rolls off bass that will hurt the end result of your efforts.
If you can't make the Add-GM24 then the AOEM is pretty much the only option. It does mess with the signal a bit, but not enough to notice with just a sub install. If you were going full aftermarket with top shelf amps and speakers, then you may notice a difference, but it's fine for just a sub.
I may have an extra Add-GM24 sitting around here somewhere. I'll dig through my junk and see if I have the pieces/parts to make one. Even if I do, it won't get done until next weekend.
Thanks for the update Mark. I can make one no problem just need the Add-GM24. So just adding the Add-GM24 harness without the complete PAC AOEM-GM24 from Dennis all my door chimes , xm and onstar will still be working ok correct? nothing will be missing?
All the harness does is "T" into the line level signal going from radio to amp so you can add your own amp/speakers to the stock setup, nothing gets changed

A may be asking you a few more questions during the install
Hi Mark, do you have pics and a diagram for hooking up the RCA`s to the Add-GM24 harness?...I have all the parts just waiting on the Add-GM24 harness , should be here by friday. also: the Pcont blue white wire from the sub I am just going to tap into one of the accessories in the fuse panel using the add a circuit correct? and the power lead(yellow) on the sub has an inline 10 amp fuse already on it. Just cut that fuse out and use the add a circuit as well?
-sub blue/white to wire at pin B3 of the AddGM24 (wire in stock harness is white)
-sub yellow goes directly to Battery (+) terminal, DO NOT remove the fuse
-sub black wire to closest ground point you can find
That's it
Thanks again .....
I will probably tap into the front speakers with the RCA`s, so the remaining rear speakers wire from the addgm24 I will just tape the ends up with electrical tape, I dont need to add the RCA connectors for the rears.
I was just thinking as an option with the yellow power wire I could just go to the fuse panel that has a constant 12v source and use a fuse tap. therefore cut out the 10 amp fuse already inline on the sub and butt connect the fuse tap in its place. that would also do the job correct?

That would work, but make sure the pigtail wire on the tap is at least as big as the yellow wire that came with the sub.

Just installed it yesterday.. Everything works great...the sub sounds awesome! Rounds out the stock Bose system really nice. I used the exhaust fuse for the yellow constant 12v and the wiper motor for the blue/white wire using the fuse taps(I used a low 3 amp fuse for the blue/white). Actually the fuse tap wire is a bit thinner than the yellow from the sub. should be ok no?
Once again thanks for all your help.
