My old 73 mustang mach1back in 1989, I spent a boat load of money on the state of the art Sony pull out CD player and the Sony tape drawer because I just couldn't let the cassettes go.
I go further back.
I give you the very first pull-out 8 track player:
Yes sir, mounted proudly in my 65 Ford Galaxie!

Yep, that's before my time. Lol I remember when 8 tracks came out, my dad went and bought 3 from Radio shack. Realistic's. Came as a kit with 2 flush mount speakers..
The Craig/Pioneer I showed was made to mount on the driveshaft tunnel between or in front of the seats.
It would slide in and out of its mounting bracket, making it portable.
The big selling point of this approach is the security of removing it from the vehicle and the versatility, as it also came with a nice little base that allowed it to be played thru a home stereo system.
State-of-the-Art at the time....geez, I can hardly remember this stuff today.

Ya, I started out with an 80's kenwood pull out cassette player. For the time was a very cool piece. In 1989, I bought a Sony pull out cassette player, then CD's came out and I still had a bunch of cassettes so I sold the first and bought the pull out CD player and the Sony has tape drawer which was a very cool set up. Fitting it all in the dash of a 73 mustang was a challenge.
At 69 I burn all my cd's to a flash drive and find it so much better than the CD player and sounds just as good. I have been transferring cd's from computer to flash drive for family members. It's very easy and enjoyable. Do about 10 cd's per day or whenever you have time and have fun.
