I added a Kenwood headunit and still disappointed with the poor sound quality of the bose system. The bass isn't all that terrible but the mids and highs are pretty bad. I've done plenty adjusting and just can't get rid of the muffled muddy sound. My question is is it a big improvement to replace the bose speakers while still using the factory wiring? Btw I have the PAC interface installed. Thanks
Your new HU is feeding the four main speakers directly, so changing out the front 3.5 and rear 5.25 will definitely give you better highs. For under $100 it is worth it IMO.
If you really want a big improvement, throw a sub in the center tub and get 6.5" components for the doors, power all that with a bridgeable 4-channel amp, or go 5-channel and add amped rears also. Anywhere from $500 for the basics to $1,000+ for better equipment.

Thanks for the feedback. I would add a sub and components, ive done that setup on cars in the past, but I'm going to keep it pretty simple in the vette. I don't listen to music all that much while driving it anyway. I definately want a cleaner sound though. Any speakers in particular that you guys recommend?
Any 4-ohm 2-way set will work, and sound better than stock, but you can call Dennis at DoubleDmods.com to see if he has any deals at the moment. Make sure he knows it's a C5Z so you get the right size (3.5 front and 5.25 rear).

I replaced all four speakers, sound is about the sound... really no improvement. Just by replacing the speakers I'm still using the Bose amps correct? And would that be why sound quality is still poor? Thanks

In C5 the Bose unit is just a line-level processor, the HU still does all of the amplification, but pretty much yes to your question.
Some people can clearly hear a difference with just a speaker replacement, some can't tell at all. It prob has something to do with how well you can hear the higher frequency sounds.
My car had an aftermarket HU and the stock speakers. Previous owner changed out the HU because it stopped reading CD's.
No matter what I did it sounded like the music was being played under water.
I bought the same speakers and components you can get from one of the vendors here in a package on ebay and the difference is night and day. I didn't see any need to go too crazy with speakers since I'm not adding amps or anything.
