Does anyone have Wire color codes for Sony HU?
I just got a sweet deal on a sony CDX-C7850 and my friend wants me to install it in their car. With out the color codes I'm afraid I'll melt it down.
On the Power side I've got:
Black
Yellow
Red
Dark Blue
Dark Blue w/white
Light Blue
Orange w/ white
Speakers are:
Grey, Grey/blk
Purple, Purple/blk
Green, Green/blk
White, White/blk

Test the wires. Not to hard. Black is ground, yellow is constant +, red ignition. Next, use a test light to test the rest of the power wires. You should find power from one when you turn on the FM,. This is Antenna. Power from another when the deck goes on and off. This is amp remote.
One will never have any power coming out of it. Lights. The speaker wires are also relatively easy. Hook a set up to a single speaker and then use the fader and balance to figure out what it is. Black is the negative of each speaker wire and no black the +. As long as you just hook up the three basic wires and then test each wire one at a time leaving the rest protected by black tape or crimps you won't blow it up. Get a test light or meter to test the wires. A light should be $10 or less. Its just a 12v car bulb with one side hooked to an alagator clip and the other side hooked up to a metal point. You could make one with a piece of speaker wire, some black tape, and a bulb from your hood.

If the blue blue/white is anything like my clarion..
one is turn on for antannae
one is turn on for the Amp
The amp on turns on and off with the Source unit
and the antannae one turns on and off with the Tuner
So be careful.. woudln't want the amplifier to only work in Radio mode.

Exactly. Test to make sure you have the antenna and amp wires properly chosen. I think the antenna will be the one with the white stripe but test to make sure. Sony, wonderful company that they are, doesn't have their manuals online and Its been a few years. Good luck and post if you have any problems.
