Need your input regarding midrange please.
System is the Alpine 7998 head unit, Alpine 450 amp, (2) JL 8" subs. I need to know the four mids that should work well with this system. Looking at JL, Boston, and Alpine. There seem to be lots of choices. Your thoughts?

Running two 8” subs you will need more of a punch from your mids. I would suggest the Image Dynamics CXS62 6.5” 2-Ohm midrange and 1” Tweeter component set. Remember you will need tweeters too. :lol:
Great bang for the buck component set with excellent imaging. In fact, you won’t find better mids even in the more expensive component sets, ID pretty much dominates the market in that area for both price and quality in Midrange/Bass.

That's a good pick. Also look at A/D/S 3 series, Focal, MB Quart QSD or QM, and Boston Pros. I wouldn't buy the tweeters and mids seperately. I'd get component sets. The makers design the mids, tweets and crossovers to work with each other. Mixing different parts usually looses alot of overall Sound Quality.

Give Diamond Audio M661 a listen. You won't be let down. They run $350 retail. You can find them on the net for cheaper but you won't get a three year warranty if not installed by an authorized dealer. Good Luck.
