Default Metra xsvi-2004 question

I just bought this and cant get it to power on. Metra is no help neither is crutchfield. I read here (yes I searched) of setting stock radio function to middle then disconnect battery ground for 30 minutes and replace radio. Then connect battery ground and it should work. Going to try that when I get home.

My question mainly is if I ever have to disconnect the battery for anything am I going to have to put the stock radio back in and do this ugly process all over again? Again Metra support was no help what so ever.

I still have to do the lmc5 install and fix my headlight gear both require battery disconnection for a long time period.

That link to the post is what I was doing at first. I followed that one.

This is where its is odd. Called Metra again new guy said to do the following. Metra stated and he STATED it not to disconnect the neg battery term. Power on car turn on radio then off. Power off car and open and close door. Wait 5 minutes and remove factory radio and plug in new harness and radio. turn key to on for 30 sec and then off and turn back on radio should come on.

I seen so many post about this of different ways to get this thing working. My last try is tonight with this before I send it back.

I feel your pain brother, I'm just starting myself and every picture I see looks different than the parts I have. But think of it this way, if some dude at Best Buy can do this, you can (sorry if someone here is a BB audio installer)

If I look at Double D pics, it's still different than 2017 parts.

I'll try for a little while, but at some point, the BB dude's time is cheaper than my time, and I don't have a lot of time.

turn key on and let it sit for 20-30 seconds not touching anything
It will power up
no need to disconnect battery

Hope you figured this out. If not, check you have the plugs correctly as on the newer version the plugs are identical for the two 8 pin connectors. I had them connected to the wrong place and could not get the unit to power on.
