Re: Are all capacitors the same??? (mike76002)
Just get one with as low an ESR value (Equivalent Series Resistance) as you can, less than 1.5 milliohms is good. Also look for one with no less than 16v rating - 20v surge. However, a 20v rating – 24v surge would be much better.
You should have no problem finding those ratings on brand name caps like RF, Lightning Audio, Stinger, PG, etc. Just look on the package for the ratings I mentioned. A 1-FARAD cap should be good up to 1000 watts. Each of the brands listed are available with digital displays also, the display isn’t necessary but can be handy for quickly checking the voltage your amps are getting.
I have found Lightning Audio "Strike" caps to be both inexpensive and well built with low ESR and expectable voltage rating. If you're on a budget, you might want to look into the LA "Strike" series cap.
There are very little manufactures that make the same cap and distribute them to all audio industries by which a label is then plastic wrapped or screened with there specific company logo.
The sad thing is....the most popular brands make more money on them then the not so popular brands for the same cap.

:yesnod: ... they should be the same ...

:yesnod: Yep, that’s why you look for the ESR and voltage ratings on them as well as the price, for example:
The RF "Punch" series cap has a slightly higher ESR value (remember lower ESR is better) and the same voltage rating as the Lightning Audio "Strike" series cap but cost about $50 more on average.
The Stinger cap has the same ESR but higher voltage rating (the higher the voltage rating the better) than the Lightning Audio "Strike" series cap but cost about $30 to $40 more.
So, since the modern design quality of all stiffening caps in this price range are the same it basically boils down to ratings and price. For the price you should do ok with the Lightning Audio "Strike" series.

Thanks for all the responding
But does the cheap cap creates noise??? Since for my home theater, I gotta have a really good line conditioner to clean up all the noise from the main AC outlet.
Juts wondering !
