Before I take the plunge on buying this unit. I have one request for the guys with experience with these multimedia players. Im getting rid of my OEM nav. I don't need it for this car. I just need on occasion my Waze app. that's what I use for my navigation for bay area traffic. I know waze is now on android auto. My question is Can I run Pandora with this unit while im using waze on android auto? can someone put it to the test. I always use Pandora/FM radio for music and I want to make sure if I run waze on AA. I can still hear my Pandora. im aware the new units coming out has weblink and says waze ready. but they don't tell you what it means to be waze ready. from what I see on youtube these units already work with waze with android auto. Is it limited function? as long as I can search and use the head unit touch screen im good to go. not sure if I should wait for "waze Ready, Weblink" or not. Ill never use youtube or yelp.
The price point of this unit is perfect at 470. I don't really wanna wait for the newer ones next month at 600-700 range.

I do not have the DDX9704S but I have the DMX7704S, which is the same unit with no CD/DVD slot. If you don't need to play CD's or watch DVD movies, take a look at the DMX7704S which you might be able to pick up for under $400.
I can't speak for the Android Auto features. I have an iPhone so I use CarPlay. I can tell you that I can play my streaming audio apps at the same time as using Apple Maps.
I can use the screen on the head unit just like using it on my phone. Swiping, opening apps, etc. I mostly use Siri to use voice commands like "Take me home" and it will automatically launch Apple Maps and start navigation to my house.
It works really well. I wish all my cars had CarPlay.

I was actually looking at that one. Until I learned about the difference in screens and what turned me away was u couldn't slide your finger around a map and have it move around or swipe fast down a list a songs and it works. I saw a YouTube video the screen on those u basically have to press the arrows. Like on maps can u zoom map in and out just like your iPhone by pinching. Or do you have to use a zoom button and arrows??

Yeah, there is a difference between capacitive vs resistive touch screen. I will have to test the pinch and zoom. I honestly don't touch the screen very often.
Couple wire questions. #1. The rp5-gm11 orange and white stripe illum wire. Just connects to the orange and white strip Kenwood ddx9704s illum wire?
I've read it needs to jump to TC wire.?????
second. Bypassing the parking brake. Do I connect the light green on HU and light green on gm11 to ground. Or. Just ground light green on HU and just cut and abandon gm11 light green brake wire???
I think I connected both the blue/yellow wires and the 3.5 jack on mine.
Yes connect HU orange illumination to traction control gray/black. Set swc to number 3 for Kenwood I believe.
So I can just cut the illumination wire on the Pac since I won' be connecting to it. Instead splicing into traction control??
and the brake wire on Pac cab also get cut. Since the HU brake wire just goes to ground to bypass?
I figured since my z06 nav already dims with lights they have the illumination wire built into the harness already so I thought I'd just hook orange and orange and be good. And not have to tap into traction control......
