Default Another Metra XSVI-2004 question

I've installed a Pioneer DEH-X6800BS stereo in my 2002 Z06, using the Metra XSVI-2004 interface. I'm experiencing the issue of the radio display not turning completely off when everything else is powered down. The only way (currently) to turn the Pioneer off is to disconnect it. I've done the 30-second wait period suggested by Metra - no help. The stereo itself works great. I can partially power it down so that only the clock is displayed, but when I exit the car, that display remains, and never shuts off.

Do I need to re-wire the power wire(s) differently so that 12 VDC is no longer supplied to the radio when the key is off and the car goes into "sleep" mode? Any ideas out there? It's getting close to driving season and I want to resolve this soon.

Very appreciative of any suggestions!

Yellow from the IVSI to yellow on the Pioneer connector

Both red wires from the IVSI to the one red wire on the Pioneer connector.

Black to Black for the ground.

All connections soldered and insulated with heat-shrink. Not that it makes a difference, but I can undo any wires if need be.

BTW, this is on my 2002 Z06.

My unit had 2 red wires, both marked "12V ignition". I've emailed Metra to see if they can shed any light on it.

And I have mistakenly referred to the XSVI-2004 as IVSI-2004. Sorry.

My unit also had 2 red wires, both marked "12V ignition" and I have the same problem.

The questions and answers I got from Metra are below:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

To: Robert Smith <rsmith@metra-autosound.com>
Subject: Re: Axxess update

Robert,

Thanks for your prompt reply.

Does the Axxess need to be powered up during the update process? USB will provide power for most interfaces, there are some that require 12v, but not many.

If the Axxess needs to be powered up , can I just use a 12v DC source to power up the Axxess during the update process?
Yes any 12v source would work IF needed

I also have some questions about a few of the wires in the Axxess harness.

Question regarding wire hookups. 2003 C5.

I am using an Axxess XSVI-2004 adapter to connect to the factory Bose system and the supplied wiring harness from Pioneer for their AVIC-5200NEX head unit.

The wires from the Axxess have to be connected to the Pioneer harness. Most of the wires are color coded the same on both wiring harnesses but I am not sure about a couple of wires.

1. On the Pioneer harness, there is a Blue/White wire labeled SYSTEM REMOTE CONTROL.

The Pioneer instructions say the Blue/W wire is for an auto-antenna relay control terminal or an antenna booster power control. My C5 has neither.
But the Blue/W wire on the Axxess harness says it should connect with the Amp turn on.
These instructions seem different on the Blue/W wires......should they be connected together? Yes

2. On the Pioneer harness, there is one Red wire labeled To 12v controlled by the ignition switch.

But the Axxess harness has two Red wires, neither with any stripes that say it should connect to the accessory control.
But the Axxess instructions only mention ONE red wire.....should I connect both reds to the single red on the Pioneer harness?
Yes

3. On the Pioneer harness, there is an Orange/White wire labeled To Lighting Switch Terminal.

But on the Axxess harness, the instructions show an Orange wire to go to Illumination and an Orange/white wire to go to Dimmer......but there is only ONE Orange wire on the Axxess harness, not two as mentioned in the wiring instructions.

Should I connect the Orange/W on the Pioneer to the single Orange on the Axxess? Yes

4. On the Pioneer harness, there is also a Pink lead labeled Car Speed Input.
I know there is a Car Speed wire at the BCM but is there one closer?
Or should I leave the Pink unconnected?
Don’t have any vehicle side schematic to assist on this question

JR,

Thank you for contacting Metra tech support. You can update any of our modules/interfaces before installing them in your vehicle. You would use our Axxess Updater found at https://axxessinterfaces.com/resources/updater-software with a Windows computer.

Thank you,

Default Help/Clarification Needed

Hi
I am in the process to update my head unit on my 2001 C5, so I got the Axxess XSVI 2004 wiring interface. Not much about the description of the different components. I was wondering how to connect certain plugs assuming they need to be connected somewhere. There are 2 black boxes and 2 wiring harnesses. I am trying to understand certain plugs where they go.
- What do I do with the small black box, the 2 wiring harnesses that came with the kit none of them plug into it and I couldn't find anything in the car to plug into it either
- So the first wiring harness with the white plugs on either end, one end goes into the converter with the dials and the other end goes into the factory harness - CHECK
- The second wiring harness has 3 black plugs and stripped wires.
- The stripped wires I will have to wire with the new Kenwood wiring harness by matching colors - CHECK
- The big black plug gets connected to the factory harness - CHECK
- What about the 2 small black plugs where do they go, I could not find anywhere to plug them.

Any help on this is greatly appreciated

Is there a setting on the radio that controls the display
The radio always needs power to retain all the setting in it

I just installed the Pioneer AVH-210EX head unit with the Metra AVSI-2004, and the 3 wire brake bypass switch. The radio and everything is working great, the problem Im having is when I power everything down, the lights on the climate control module and staying lit up?? I didnt unwire it when I did the install. I was wondering if its possibly where I hooked up the blue power-on wires from the Pioneer to the AVSI and then the brake bypass switch into those two? Has anyone else experienced this??

I dont if this help but for my kenwood what I did is the green wire and the 2 blue wires and the black wires are all connected together. So far all are good
I have the orange wire from the AVSI connected to the orange wire from the kenwood plug but dont know if the dimmer works not that it matters as the dark background I have makes it look dark. I even tried plugging the orange wire from the kenwood plug into the HVAC and didnt see any change when I play with the light dimmer ****........my navigation screen do change automatically between day and night
