I didn' buy GLIs. What' the chances I'll need them. I don' want to put the car back together and then take apart and add gli. And also not sure how to install them. When I look at them. They are rca hookups. My rp5 and HU is all wires being soldered by me. No rca connections except my backup cam?
I'm hoping i wont need any gli.
anyone with knowledge elaberate?
to hope for the best. I' probably gonna connect HU black to rp5 black. But also soldier another wire and run it under driver kick board and ground to the car to make sure the HU has a good ground just to hope and help best.
You don't want to use a GLI unless there's no other choice, all's your doing with those is masking the problem. My Pioneer system sounds just fine hooking up to the ground on the RP5 interface, I think you be just fine. Just hook everything up, try it out before you finish the install, start the car and listen to make sure there's no noise, if it's all good, finish putting everything back together, if there is some noise, remove the ground under the kick board, then try it again. You'll enjoy your new system, they sound much better than the stock system. Be sure to let us know how things turn out.

I also hooked the grounds from my cameras (front and rear) to the same ground, and I hooked the positive wires from the camera to the positive off the RP5 also, no issues there either.

I think im just tapping into the Reverse light for rear cam. My RCA I ordered has just a positive.. not a negative to hook up to HU and i only wanna run that single RCA not another wire for ground
Sure you don’t want to add a front camera while you you have easy access and the head unit has an input
no im not sure actually Don lol... I wasn't sure how to get the RCA Cable out to front bumper. firewall? and avoiding anything that will melt it. I can always purchase a second Pioneer camera. I can always atleast run the cable. but like I said. I didn't do a lot of research on it. and didn't think of how to get the RCA cleanly out front. and since rear taps in reverse light. not sure what I would hook front up. just red and black on back of HU?
shoooot, im not even sure ill be able to run the rear RCA as im imagining. center console somehow get the carpet up over the bump behind seat and under carpet straight to rear.. that's my idea. well see if I even can get it done. I really don't plan on take out plastic panels on driver side and all rear.. ill break something! lol I hope to just fish it straight up middle. under carpet.

You stated you're getting the Pioneer camera, that's not how they say to wire it up.

You don't have to fish an RCA connector through anything if you're getting the Pioneer camera like you stated. The Pioneer camera harness has a small connector in line that's much easier to fish through things, you can see it on the attached video. When I installed my front camera, there's a main wiring harness that goes through a grommet in the firewall behind the battery, I fished my wiring through it. On my rear camera I fished the wiring up under the center console, under the waterfall, then to the side of the trunk under the carpet to the back of the car, behind the back panel of the trunk there's also a wiring harness that goes through a grommet the space behind the taillights you can fish it through. No need to pull panels.
i always hook up the cam to acc. as stated above, pioneer head units have "camera view" so you can switch to cam at anytime on acc. Also, so cars like newer Chrysler and VW, if you tie into the light switch, the voyage drops and won't be enough to power on camera

ahah your right u just through a wrench in my brain for tomorrow. Pioneer does have a weird connector. Not a rca with trigger wire. I ordered a extention off amazon I guess I'll be returning. Where does that go on the Kenwood.
I just had a few min extra before work so I was able to solder the 2 harness' together. Only wires i didn't solder yet is the black and red so I can do it in the car after I run both front and rear cameras. Also of course illum wire. But everything else is soldered and heat shrinked. The brown mute wire in rp5. I left looked and didn' cut because I didn' see a mute wire in my Kenwood ddx9704s harness......?
well started. I'm stuck here until USPS delivers my front and rear pioneer cameras. Harness' are soldered except the black and red wires because I'm waiting on cameras. Hurry up USPS. Guess I'll look for front camera route with wiring in meantime

Now remove the inner right tail light by removing the screw at the top of the light and that'll give you room to access the space behind the trunk panel.

Your pic looks familiar. We are both at the same step, just went out and took this pic. Waiting for the new Kenwood to be released. Also did the MGW shifter install while the console was apart.
12 slow hours. Being super careful and a protectionist. Well try too. And wait for delivery of cameras. All done. And I must say. No buzz or hum. No pop. Heads n cam. The loudness of the car doesn't mess it up. Now I didn' go for a drive yet as it's a little to late. But I'll get on it tomorrow to see if I get any whine or noises in speakers but as of now it's clear I hear nothing but music. Steering wheel works. Phone calls work. Bt Mic. On a pillar near onstar Mic. I didn' cut the brown wire. Leave it looped. It turns off music and screen. But as soon as ur done with on star it kicks right back. And also. I tried the orange/white illumination wire on my 08 z06 to the orange/white on the rp5gm11. And when the headlights go on or when I make them go on the screen does in fact dim. I didn' got hook it up to the traction control wire. And it still dims. Not sure if this is a 3lt nav thing or a z06 thing. But it works like a charm. Only other thing I gotta test tomorrow is a DVD while driving. Make sure the bypass worked. What ya guys think.
special thanks to all you guys that helped and repeated yourselves over and over because I waswasnt getting it or being to worried.
Thanks for your patients.

Your system looks like it turned out real nice. I told ya you'd be fine without a GLI,. I like you connected the orange/white wire to the RP5GM11 for dimming and mine works fine also, I'm not sure why others have to tap the traction control wire. Now you just have to mess around and adjust the EQ settings to get everything sounding just right and then take it for a long cruise. Be sure to let us know how your test drive went, (at least you get to go for a test drive, theres still to much snow on the ground here for any kind of drive).

TorchRedFred ??????? I don't see where he was involved in this tread, or am I missing something ?
Now I've read I can change the Kenwood start screen. Are new units still able to do that. I wouldn' mind having a custom corvette or z06 one. Kenwood one doesn' bother me. But add a little custom touch
