I've got a 98 vert, Bose stereo, and I'm told by the local stereo store that the whole thing has to come out, head unit to the speakers to the wiring. As I understand it, if the speakers have individual amps, then the system is such that it all has to go. I also hear people talking about changing out JUST the speakers. Can anyone shine some light on this? Thanks in advance, the Rag Top Man
Its a little different in the C5 than the C4 bose. Sounds like they were talking about C4 bose. Check with some of the C5 guys for more info. Its nice to replace with better stuff but its not necessary for everything as it is for C4.

Re: Bose speaker replacement? (92TripleBlack)
You have a lot more leeway in the C5 than the C4 Vette. In the C4 EVERYTHING has to be yanked out for a proper and safe install but in the C5 you can run an aftermarket unit on the speakers with little fuss. I would suggest replacing everything because it will sound much better if you do, however you can purchase a converter to interface with the Blose speakers. They work much better than the OEM converters for the C4’s. If you aren’t too concerned about sound quality then a simple converter will do the job.
