Default C5 Z06 stereo advice

OK I need some help folks. I want to install a double din DVD Navigation head unit that has a built in amplifier and cameras apple car play blue tooth audio streaming etc. All the toys but rather than run an extra amp is their a head unit also that has a stronger built in amp? Blue tooth is paramount so quality is important on this feature also. I am absolutely stereo stupid so would love to hear options? Thanks.

won't be appreciably louder than stock if you are running the speakers on an aftermarket head unit only.

amps are not hard to wire up and you'll just end up adding one later when you're disappointed with the volume output of your new stereo IMO.

If you're stereo stupid, I'd suggest you take your car to a professional stereo installer and talk to them about what you'd like to have for sound, and they can give you a number of options available, and prices to fit your budget..

No heady it has an appreciably better amp in it. Most will say they're 52x4, but they're really all the same.

stock speakers are designed to work with relatively low power and have high sensitivity specs. Aftermarket speakers less so. With the small form factor of many of today's amps, adding them isn' hard, but does add more cost.

If you are going to the trouble of installing a good double din, you owe it to yourself to back it up with some decent speakers and at least a small amplifier. I just don't think you will be satisfied with the head unit alone. The stock Bose system is junk. I know that is harsh but as a long time audio enthusiast, I cringed the first time I heard the stock system. A new head unit will only improve sound marginally. Consider upping your budget to $1200 to $1500 and you could get new speakers front and rear, a nice moderately sized 5 channel amp that could be hidden if you don't want it exposed and an 8 or 10 inch subwoofer in an enclosure in the rear sump area. The difference in sound quality and your satisfaction over using the stock setup with new head unit will be staggering.

Here is a budget conscious system that includes all the main components you would need and would be a nice starter system:

https://www.crutchfield.com/p_575R16...-S.html?tp=106
https://www.crutchfield.com/p_575R15...X2.html?tp=105
https://www.crutchfield.com/p_575R2D....html?tp=68872

This just a simple example but it can be done for a reasonable amount and still achieve great sound on a budget.

Much appreciated! I don't mind spending money but want something decent. I am asking these questions here so I can educate myself so I know what questions to ask of a professional shop/installer with a reasonable understanding and not sure what deck is better than another if one is better than another. I appreciate the help and all the other responses so far also. Cheers!

There are also many enclosure options for that rear sump area or you could go corner enclosures from Marc@Vettenuts but they are a bit spendy. When selecting a sub, choose one that performs well in a small enclosure, for a 10" rated as close as you can get to .5 cubic feet of airspace. Then make sure your enclosure is larger than that, like around .75 cubic feet or more and it will sound really good. Biggest mistake made with subs is installing them in too small of an enclosure. A good installation shop should know this and if you need some links to subs and enclosures I think would perform well, just holler. Good luck!

I went all out because I love my music!! A friend of mine owns a audio store and has been in the business for a long time. I don’t regret this one bit what I had done. I had him sound deaden everything inside the car. Put in Kenwood doubledin headunit. Kenwood 5 channel amp under the passenger seat. Very thin amp but kicks ***. At the time I would have went with Rockford amp but it was on back order and did not want to wait. I have all Rockford speakers in the car and sub in the rear. I could compete with my system in a audio show. He does judging at shows. All depends what you are looking to do. I plan on keeping my car so that is why I also did it. I will be soon posting my leather wrapped doubledin for sale as soon as I get my other one from Apsis. Decided to change things up.

That’s about what I did as well - just with JL speakers and a 10” Rockford sub in the trunk. Sound quality is amazing and worth every penny!

I’m sorry dude I don’t. My friend the installer had the car for a whole week. I told him to take his time. The only time I seen it was I went back up to his shop two days later and he was working on the sound deadening. I know on his face book page you can look at installs they did. Mine was done I think around 2013. Let me know if you need the installer business name and you can search it.
