Default VCIM removal 2008 c6

Hey guys. Just did a sub install on my vette. Added 2 supervettes boxes one in each cubby. Getting to the passenger side I noticed that the cubby had a weird hump in it and the box would not fit. Anyways long story short I found out that it’s the vcim module for the Onstar. Well after much searching I’ve found at least 2 people who have just jumped the pins in the j4 connector and completely removed the box. I decided to take the plunge and go this route as opposed to cutting up my sub box in order to make it fit. My question is has anyone else done this removal and jumped the pins? And is there anything I should be worried about now having done this? From what I can tell it’s just negative and positive power from that plug and no data should be running through there. Or am I totally wrong?

If you have factory nav the voice commands will no longer function. The microphone circuit is part of the VCIM.

My car had it yes. But I upgraded to an aftermarket unit so I no longer worry about that part. I just want to make sure there aren’t any driveability issues with it unplugged and the j4 connector jumped.
