Default C6 "VERT" upgrades ~ Speakers/Audio, etc

Hi guys,

I've tried to do search and comment on this subject in other threads (without trying to hijack the thread), there's info on C6 (which is pretty standard in most C5/C6/C7 coupes, but not getting much info on the C6 Convertibles. I am looking for specific Audio solutions for the C6 Vert and seeking help getting parts together. "Pineapple" has offered to help me put it together, I can't wait .

I have: Pioneer 8200 NEX (Nav model). I have JL Audio (300/4) 4 chnl Amp from before. Also have 2-way 6.5" coaxial Infinity speakers from a couple of years ago - considering using them as rear "fill" speakers, or use them in another car.

Considering: a 12G copper wire. Considering 6.5" component speakers for front (Polk Audio, JBL, Infinity, etc).

Main issue is the REAR (due to lack of space in C6 Vert). What solutions are you guys using in your verts for bass? JL Audio cubby boxed small subs are way too expensive for what they are, and will require a 2nd amp, which is also hard due to lack of space. I am considering solutions around the Waterfall area....but don't know what to get.

P.S: later I am thinking of also installing a wind-restrictor for the Vert, don't want this to hinder the install for that.

Thanks for your Help and input. If you're selling any parts that might help my situation, let me know.

Ordered a Kenwood KSC-SW11 self powered compact subwoofer from Crutchfield that should be here this afternoon already installed a Kenwood KAC-M3004 4 channel amp in place of the satellite radio antenna under the waterfall. Getting ready to put everything back together. I’ll let you know how it works out. Also did front and rear camera...... very helpful.

I will be doing front & rear cameras too with my Pioneer NEX - what cameras did you get?

I am certainly looking forward to your feedback about the self-powered sub; I did consider it, but tossed it because wanted to go the traditional route of 6.5's components up front, and subs in the back. But I am open to ideas.

Dang, the vert really is tight in space compared to a coupe... But the looks and experience ...

Rear camera is an Echomaster CAM-LF3. It is a license plate camera. Very small and hard to notice. Easy to wire very good image even in low light. Be sure to look at the YouTube video by 5 Star Stereo for this camera.
Front camera is a Clarion CC520. Very small and has built in reverse image and built it parking lines. I started with an Alpine camera but it lacked both features and I did not find it that helpful for parking. I have a Kenwood head unit and it will add rear but not front parking lines to the camera. Will add the sub next week and let you know, it did not arrive yesterday

I went with a down firing enclosed sub in the back... And they also seen to be easier to adjust and blend with the front stage..
And i also installed some new old stock boston 6" speakers in the rear partition that fit with almost no modification..

What sub are you using - can you please post a link to it, if possible?

Was it hard to install a 6" in the 5.25" space for rear speakers?

Thanks!

Using the waterfall for a sub woofer speaker area will be creative.
I don't recall anyone trying this.

Off the self you are limited to the enclosures that insert into the rear corner cubby holes or a tube that will take some truck space.

Or build one custom.

I would not place anything on the panel behind the seats as to many stories about drilling into the gas tank. I don't think there is enough room to place anything under the seats either.

Amps can fit under the tonnou (sp) cover area between the down position roof and truck floor for sure or maybe mount vertical on the rear of the truck.

FWIW. Mine. Amp under pass footwell cover near fuse box, 2 more amps under roof as described above, 8" horizonal tube sub pass rear corner. Sounds very good to me. I do like those JL Audio cubby hole enclosures as they appear to not take as much storage as tubes, yet I can agree fairly expensive for what they are.

Good luck in your design goals and final product.

EDIT: The tube is a Bazooka brandname and when I wrote pass rear corner...I meant in the truck.

Got a link of the 8" tube? If you have a pic of your install that would be nice too...

I got some New/old stock Boston RX67 and if you measure them to today's sizing they come in about @ 6" speaker... They went in rear partition pretty good and only had to add a few nuts onto screws to hold them in.. Then i used the stock grills and had to break off a few tabs to get them to mount over the boston's -But they fit.
As for the subwoofer i orig had this one
https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Pioneer...cAAOSwRgJXjVnA

And then i bought a little bigger box so as to help the sub a little more as the pioneer box is a little small on it C.U air space...
Here is a few pic's i have right now....In the third pic you can see the sub box a little but i had it pushed back at the time of the pic. And you can see where i mounted my Twister Amp from Italy..Its not located where most would put it but it works..
