My C6 Convertible Self Powered Subwoofer install
While most seem to go with subs that fit the rear storage areas in a convertible, I went with a Kenwood self powered compact (KSC-SW11)
subwoofer. Some of the reasons:
1. Compact shape which does not take up much space which is very limited
in a vert.
2. Did not want anything/enclosures sticking up from the storage
compartments. I need to keep my golf clubs there, and the space is just
long enough for them to fit.
3. Where I placed it does not interfere with the remaining storage space.
4. The wiring harnesses for the Kenwood are very easy to wire up, easy to
hide, and unplug if needed.
5. The sub comes with a wired remote that I placed in the glove box, so
adjustments to sound are easy.
6. The Kenwood had good reviews on several sites I checked and the price
did not break the bank.
7. The Kenwood UH has subwoofer RCA outputs, and I figured I might as
well install a sub while the console was apart.
8. I already had a 4 channel Kenwood amp (KAC-M3004) mounted under
the waterfall when I decided to add the sub, and being self powered
made it easy.
So far quite happy with the result and sound. Not earth shattering window breaking bass, but a very good improvement over just the speakers, I have 6.5" Focal 165AS in the doors and Illusion Audio Electrica E5CX 5.25 in the rear.
I mounted the sub in the center of the truck as far forward as possible but not interfering with the folded top. I used a sheet of marine plastic purchased at West Marine to act as a backing plate under the rubber trunk mat. It provides a very solid mount with no slide or movement of the sub. This mount is also easily reversible/removable and required no holes to be drilled into the car.
I hope this provides some good info to someone, and shows another alternative to adding some much welcomed bass to a convertible sound system.

Nice job. I have the exact same Kenwood Sub in my back hatch. Installed it last year. Nice improvement rounds out the over all sound nicely. Very happy with it.
