I have a 2013 GS I'm looking to add a sub(s) to but I'm stuck between if I should go with 1 or 2 10" subs. I ordered a Sundown Audio SD-3 10" D4 rated at 500w rms. This is their "shallow" sub as the mounting depth is only around 4.5". I'm looking to keep as much storage space as I can and be able to still store the targa top so I can't have a tall box either is why I'm going for their shallow sub plus the box will be custom for whatever I decide to go with. I'm prepared to go up to a dual box if I need to. I'm just curious if a single 10 will be enough in the c6 cabin or if I need a second to have good feeling bass.
If I stick with just the single 10" I'll use my existing amp from a previous car that is rated for around 600w rms @ 2ohms which is what the setup will be wired at and I think that should be perfect for the single sub (you can tell me I'm wrong if I am, I'm not a professional). If I end up going with 2 then I will get a different amp that will be suited for at least 1000w rms to support both subs of course.
I mainly listen to rock/country/top50 popular and occasional "Chill/Trap Nation" and Post Malone Spotify playlists type stuff if that helps too.
I have just installed a single 10" sub in my C6 and absolutely love the sound quality. It is more about making sure your enclosure is properly built for your system and vehicle sound chamber. I have a JL Stealthbox that uses the driver side cubby hole. With that enclosure, the targa top still fits perfectly in the back. Since they do not make a box for the passenger side, if I decide I want more, I will have to have that one custom built by the shop who did the install. They quoted me $400 for the box and 10" Hertz sub.
