Future amp from JBL
This is the amp making by JBL and Crown Audio. Look at the transformer, it's huge. The amp is rated at 6000 Watts RMS ... the world's most powerfull amp.

Looks impressive, good pair of companies behind it also. I assume Class D operation, mono sub amp? That seems to be where JBL's focus is.

what the hell???
that thing is insane... can you use it to power a concert hall?
does it require its own dedicated altenator??? or an entire engine? or small nuclear reactor?

Try to find out how many amps it draws... my 1000 watt drew like 30 at full power...

What kind of amp do you have? It must be a class D with an efficiency that high...
Or do you mean 1000 watts peak? 500 rms?

There lies the problem with trying to get a THD spec for a Class D amp, but the switching harmonics of Class D operation are octaves above sub frequencies, meaning it's not practically audible distortion. It's not a practically applicable spec for Class D.
