Need Help For Finishing Amp + Sub Install....Please Help
Hey,
Was finishing hooking up the amp for my subs.
Connected the power and everything else but the amp power light isnt coming on and the subs dont hit.
Even if the Wiring of the subs wasnt done right...power should still come on if ground and power are done right, correct???
So I took a couple pics of the ground to see if its a good ground source and the power terminal thats connected to the batter seems to have rusted or something...this the cause??
The ground is hooked up in the back where the latch hold the coupe roof in place. I took out the piece and took out the bolt and installed the wire and put the bolt back in...

Sorry if these are dumb questions - but I'm not sure what else to ask:
Did you hook up the amp's remote turn-on wire? That'll sure cause the trouble you're describing.
If not that, then is there any chance of a blown fuse? Might try a multi-meter to test the ground ...

The first thing I would do is check and see if the latch is ground, sometime there are metal parts that are not ground. If you have a meter put in on DC volts in a range that will be correct for 10-20vdc and put the red/positive lead on the positive battery terminal and the black/negative lead on the negative battery terminal and check the voltage, next switch the black/negative lead to your bolt at the latch and see if the voltage is the same. If there is more than .1 volt +/- difference than you don't have a good ground point

Are you using the OEM-1 PAC? If so, the remote line is not connected to the harness (rather, its connected but to an empty pin in the harness or if I remember right, its hook to the antenna lead) error on behalf of TUNE-TOWN.
If the answer is yes to my above listed question then tap into the remote lead comming from the radio and run a fresh line to the amp. If you do not have a remote turn on lead comming from the amp and only power and ground... this is probably the problem.

Well I tried another ground...Behind the panel where the passenger seatbelt is.
Didnt work
I took pics of the remote wire blue/white that came with the OEM1 than the red wire is the one I used to connect to the blue/white remote wire and ran it to the amp.
I have no clue whats wrong...guess ill have to take it to a shop and see whats wrong :mad

Have you checked for 12v yet?
Try checking for voltage and keep back tracking till you find it, wala, your problem. With or without the remote wire, you should still get 12 v at the amp. If you do, jumper the 12v over to the remote to see if it turns on, if it does, trace back your bad remote wire.

Doubtful, Amps almost always spark the first time. Had a Kicker ZR1000 spark so hard one time it almost welded the allen wrench to it! Check the fuse, but you should be fine, BTW, you found your problem!

Test the power. First, test the + at the amp. You can check the - at the same time by using a meter or test light. Once you've established you have + and -, test the remote wire using the - and the remote. If you have power to + and remote and a ground, the light should go on. If it doesn't, the amp may have its own fuse internally or externally. Check your owners manaual. Its usually either a blown fuse, loose wire, bad ground, pinched remote wire, etc. that causes problems. Make sure you also sand off the paint around your ground. It may give a ground signal but if it is not a good contact, the amp may still not work. Also, if all is now working and the amp light is on but still no sound, it may be a bad rca or rca connection, or the deck may be set up to send no signal through the sub output being turned down, fader faded to the front, etc. You may hear the amp and sub go on with a thump or sometimes you can feel a slight vibration on the sub when it is on without any signal.

Someone said you didn't have a test light. You can make a test light with a piece of speaker wire. Remove one of the bulbs from the hood. This is like an interior dome light bulb with the hookups on either end of the bulb. Take a speaker wire and attach one part to one side and the other part to the other side of the bulb. You can tape them on or twist them around the connections. Then you have a test light. If you hook one side to + and the other to ground, the bulb will light. Use this to test that you have power and ground at the amp. Then use the ground to test the remote wire going on and off. Should take 5 minutes, a philips head screw driver to remove the bulb, and 2" of tape.
