Default Speed detector advise

I think l need a cop/static radar detector, this Vette is gonna get me in trouble (new owner of under a month!)
l was chatting with a Vette owner at the local Chevy dealership & he advises me to get an Escort, which cost over $500!!!
Now that seems a bit steep to me (please don't tell me about how much the fine plus the insurance will cost if l don't buy one!), so do any of you advise a cheaper detector, or should l spend the kid's inheritance & bite the bullet???

There are plenty of threads on this subject. I vote for the Uniden R3 for under $400. You can go a bit cheaper and get the R1 for $300 but it doesn’t have GPS.

Yes GPS is great. The detector is #1 in range for 2018. Check out YouTube videos. Some great info. I had Escorts for nearly 20 years. This is the first time I’ve went with another brand and have no regrets. It’s also fairly small and mounts very well on the blendmount in our cars.

I believe in the old saying "you get what you pay for" that being said, this are the ones I got https://www.escortradar.com/collecti...ort_redline_ex I have on in my Vette and one in my truck and they've never let me down. It's pretty cool, there's an app you put on your phone that let's you connect to it via bluetooth witch lets you set all sorts of different settings as well as a lot of other features.

Checked out which is the best deal for me, the R3 gets the best detector 2018 reviews, l went for a refurbed one that initially saves $100 on the price but took out the 1yr extended warranty for $29 so it saved me $70 on the new price with full protection.

Thanks for all the help guys.

This isn’t true regarding the R3. It’s better than an Escort now days. I had the ESCORT IX prior. Almost got the latest 360C but after reading about the R3 I decided to give it a try. It’s amazing and cheaper. The escort Connect to the phone is a cool feature. However the R3 and Waze are even better. The R3 is also a bit smaller than Escorts and tuck up under the mirror better. Not sure I’ve heard of anyone switching to another detector after giving it a shot.

Where do you get the supply from?
If it's the cigar lighter, where & how did you hide the wiring>?

The easiest for most is the mirror tap. I did this on my truck. In my Z I did an add a fuse in the fuse box in the trunk and ran the wire up to the mirror.

BITE THE BULLET, I had to counter the new Digital radars but the only true hard line detector is the Escort IX and above models w real time/online digital signal
detection. I bought the 12v direct plug in so I can take it from car to car I own as well, divide that by three and I actually saved as I only needed to buy one unit.
Hope this helps.
