First off, this car has the stock BlOSE system in it and makes no sound.
I dont want to add a sub box unless I can find a stealth one somewhere.
Here is my question, Can I get one of those Focal three way component sets and put the 4.5 and tweet in the front mounts and place the 6.5 subs in the back mounts?
How would it sound? Would it really lack bass?
I want it to look as stock as possible and give me space in the back area.
I dont know that much about this and I will probably have a shop put it all in but I want to know it would work and pros and cons before I make the final decision.
It could be done, but it would still lack bass. It would be better if you got a 2 piece component set, 5 1/4" or 6 1/2" for the front and a real sub for the rear. The real threshold for making true bass is an 8" woofer, which is still a compromise. 10-12" are ideal from the standpoint of making clean tight bass. 15" makes gobs of bass but sound quality and tightness drops off. You can mount either a single 10" sub using the storage compartment behind the passenger seat as a box or 6x9 speakers in the rear. Either would give you more bass than the focals and look fairly stock or be easily hidden.
It would sound terrible, you really need all three speakers as close to each other as possible. How about a nice TWO way 6.5 set up front, with a pair of DD 6.5's used as midbass in the rear speaker compartments? They pound pretty hard for 6.5's
cut them off at 120hz or so, and let them play below that.
Focal 6.5's are pretty bassy, but the road noise easily kills them.
i'm running 5-1/4" quart seperates in the front and kef 6.5" midbass in the rear with some kicker ti tweets, a couple punch He2 8" subs are behind my seats in the cubby holes. sounds great really but i'm probably going to ditch the stock plastic cubby board & fab in a wood one & just recover it. subs & plastic = rattles. if you want to run a single din deck you can take your factory trim plate off & fiberglass in half of it, do some sanding & painting & have a very factory looking single din hole.
