Can you switch to another BOSE head unit?
I am at best an amature when it comes to stereos. I know there really is not any head unit made that fits the 1.5DIN slot in C5's. I was wondering however, if you could swap the stock C5 head unit for another better looking BOSE head unit out of a DeVille or something like that? This may be a stupied question.

I talked with a service manager at a local dealership about using my HU from a 01 vert in my wife's Suburban 02. (Repair issue, long story). He said that the HU's in the newer cars are not only model specific but vehicle specific. The have a unique serial number that is checked with the car. so swapping HUs between two, say 01 corvettes will not work. Of course I live in the arm pit of Texas and it's hard to get a straight answer out of these idiots. So I would check around with what i've told you in mind.

Unfortunately the C5 stereo system was designed way back in the early 90's. It is doubtful you can substititue a newer HU into the C5. You would need inside info from Delphi to replace the C5 Hu with another GM product.
