DynAudio - System 360 arrived today. I'm anxious to install it but had a quick brainstorm first. I bought 2- 8" JL Audio free air subs a few months ago and installed them in the doors. They were to complement my MB Quarts. The sound was never quite perfect at high volumes either before or after the sub install. So heres what I just did. Unhooked the MB Quart drivers and hooked up the JL Subs off of the MB Quart crossover. Basically, replaced the 6.5 drivers with the JL 8's. The sound is absolutely unbelievable. It is so clean, at incredibly high volume, (200 watts per channel - ads amp) I am astounded. I also power a JL 12w7 off of a 500/1. Ever want base so clean and strong it makes it hard to breath? The system is a hair light now in the midsection so a mid is definitely needed. I am very anxious to set up the Dynaudio to compare but this is one incredible sound system so far. I'll keep you posted! One thing is sure, these JL Free air subs are absolutely phenominal! I had a 12w3 and these blow it away!!! Highly recommended - if you can get them. I had to wait 6 months...
Will do - Hope to install them on Sunday.
On the amp, actually I'm running the gain at about 50% because it's so strong. I can't imagine what a 1000/1 would do - but I'd love to try it!!!
Yes, it's the 8IB4's. I have a high end system and they sound terrific. I would recommend them in any system, high end or otherwise. As far as templates go, its quite easy actually. Just cut out the shape in MDF using the origional Bose as the template. Works great.
I didnt take any pictures of either the 12w7 box or installation of the 8IB4's but perhaps I can do that this weekend when I put in the DynAudios.
Again, I know I mentioned it before, but these 2- 8 inchers blow away the 12w3 I had. The noticable difference came when I used them as drivers rather than subs. They were hooked up to a 250/1. Now they're hooked up off the ADS off the MB Quart crossover. In any event, the capability of these "subs" is outstanding. Now I'm thinking I should have just bought a pair of high end mids instaed of the whole system! :yesnod:
