Hello all,
I'm trying to install a new Alpine into my '95 with Bose Gold. I pulled all the speakers out and ran my new wiring for new speakers. Just started getting ready to put the Alpine in, and realized that the GM plug that I have will not accept either plug from the car. I have done Bose replacements in previous cars, and used a harness to get my power, lights, ground, power antenna etc., while I bypassed the harness for speaker connections.
What is the solution here? Does this harness need to be connected to something in the rear compartment, or do I just need to skip the harness and hardware everything? I even looked at corvetteradios.com to compare wiring colors to the ones in the dash, and they don't even match. So if someone has done this in the past please help me out here.
I have done a lot of installs, and this by far takes the cake for being a PITA. :mad Oh well, it's nearly the weekend and I have plenty of beer.
Wrong plug. You probably have a generic GM plug. They make a plug to fit what you have. You could also splice off the wires but that is harder and means unnecessary cutting. I'd check with a good local shop and get the right plug.

It's all very confusing...you need to plug the harness into the receiver behind the passenger's seat, not directly in the dash. You will also need to run an antenna extension from the rear compartment up to your receiver in the dash. Just run a whole mess of wires from the back of your deck along with the antenna extension to the rear compartment behind the pass. seat via the center console and then have your harness on the end of that. unplug the harnesses from the "bose box" in the compartment and plug them directly into your harness and connect the antenna into the "bose box" into your extension and you should be good to go. :D
Thanks all. Sure enough, the matching plug I was looking for was hooked into the receiver box behind the passenger seat. Finally ran all the wires and I now have sound. :yesnod: The rear spekers I put in fit right into the existing Bose box, but the front is another story. Any tricks to install front speakers? I have 5 1/4" Infinity speakers I bought, but just can't seem to find a way to install them without cutting something. Thought about taking them back and trying 4" in the factory bose box.
