I put the focals in today..was home sick but got stir crazy.
Took about 5 hours. I put everything together in the shop in the basement as it would be almost impossible in the garage.
I bolted the woofers to the adapter plate with m4x30 screws and nylon insert nuts..theyre not going anywhere..the tweeters have a back strap which i double nutted so its not going anywhere.
The rest was pretty straightforward..had to chop the wiring going to the bose woofer. I left enough wire should the next owner decide to put all the crap back.
Everything soldered up and heat shrinked ..then just screwed them into the door..added some butyle deadener in variouse places especialy over the screw area so they will never back out..
Fired it up and sounds good. Have to break them in..then get a sub..then upgrade the amp to something better.
Right now the little alpine amp is putting 45 watts to everything.
Now i ha ve to see how the tweets sound ..i wanted to put them lower so they sre not blocked by the grill as much..found a picture of that on diy audio..
Soon as i put them in..the skies opened up..couldnt go for a ride and now im in RI so i havent really heard them yet.
Just a little in the garage..but they sounded good.
Might get them tuned as i dont know when i can get a sub going.
Just ordered a calibrated microphone so i can give the eq a try.
Read a good article by the stereo chick..think i have an ok idea how to tune it..then when i have time i could pay her shop a visit..will be fun to try it though
