I just put this in my 1997 and could not be happier. The Kenwood unit is on sale right now at Crutchfield.com for $399. It has CD, DVD, BT, Rear and front camera inputs, Apple Car Play or Andriod Auto, and much more. You would need to replace you dash kit due to a bigger unit. ($250) I went ahead and added a back up camera and small sub woofer while I had it all open. A bit of a job but well worth it. As far as GPS goes, having Apple Car Play / Andriod Auto depending on what kind of phone you use, it takes the map off of your phone and puts it on your Stereo screen. Works great and is always updated. And I am using my bose speakers.Good luck
Kenwood Excelon DDX6906S and a Metra DP-3021B Dash Kit

Just ordered the same H.U. today from crutchfield and should get it Friday. It’s replacing a 9 year old Kenwood DDX8019 in my C6. It served me well but it’s time for me to join the cell phone connected receiver world. Can’t wait to get it.
Allen, the Kenwood Excelon receivers are real good pieces of equipment. The unit shown is capable of GPS going through your iPhone or android. I’m going to use Waze with my 6906s.

Sounds like you think I am the original poster (?) If not, forgive me for reading it wrong. Anyway, yes, these are great units for the money. I have the same one in my truck. And had another (very similar) in the C6 I had. Might as well get a BU camera while you're doing it if you don't have one already. I also added the sound ordanance sub woofer from crutchfield while I was doing it. It's not a big one but fills in the sound really good. Good luck with it.
Also, if you don'r already have a phone mount, I got mine from Pro Clips. It's awesome. It just snaps on where you see my phone. Then got their magnet mount to hold the phone to it. Work great.

oops, I didn’t scroll up enough on my iPad.
Ordered a BU camera with the license plate mount at the same time, thanks.
I already have a complete system which includes HSK 165 front components, JL XR rear coax, JL stealthbox with 10w3v3 and a XD600 on sub and 450/4v2 on fronts and rears. Once the new HU is in hopefully I’m set for a long time.
Saw your pic and though that phone mount looks great and sound ask but got sidetracked. I’ll look into it ,Thanks again.

You might take a look at the Pioneer AVH 3500nex. I am having this installed today. My car is a 1998. This is a single din with a motorized 7" screen. Apple Car Play, CD & DVD player; This radio works with the BOSE system and speakers so none of that needs to be replaced.. I I didn't want to replace the bezel.
Hope this helps
