I have a 1986 Coupe and just purchased two 10 inch Alpine Type S subs. Now i need your help in creating a box for them that would allow me to still keep the targa roof in the back with the box there. Also, I would like them to still sound good, so what type of materials should i use??. Just to tell you guys I am totally clueless when it comes to stereo stuff, so any info or pics would be appreciated. :seeya

The only thing I can tell you is teh best material to use is partical board or MDF(medium density fiber board). The reason is these materials don't have a grain that the sound waves will follow

You might want to do a search on this topic if the search function even works. I posted a couple of times on this very subject with pictures of my C4 setup. I can't put pictures in this post because I can't link to the Corvette Forum website since they changed servers here. But you might find my previous posts if the search works.
You can fit up to a 2.5 cu.ft. enclosure in the back and still be able to use the storage compartments and put your targa top in the stock storage mounts, hope that helps.
Oh, and use 3/4" MDF to build the sub enclosure with. Particleboard is just too flimsy. MDF won't flex. Wood glue between the pieces and screwed together with 5/8" drywall screws (some may say use Liquid Nails but it really isn't necessary). Caulk the inside seams with silicone caulk, I like "PollySeamSeal" All-purpose Adhesive Caulk the best for that application. You can find all of this at Lowe's or Home Depot.
If you want to carpet the enclosure you can get it at Auto Zone or Lowe's in the color you desire. Use 3M Hi-Strength Spray Adhesive #90 to adhere the carpet to the box. That too can be found at Lowe's.
Measure twice and cut once, hope that helps. :seeya
