I have an '84 vette...the bose system seems to be fine at sounds...my right rear speaker needs replacement...so I ordered a complete system from mid america....right and left speaker's with amps and enclosure's....so in repairing am I messing up.....just trying to repair the system to stock original.......what about ordering a different radio with A CD Player.....
Should I have ordered a complete upgrade????and if so what???
You should return the piece to Mid America. For the price you could replace all 4 speakers with higher quality ones than the bose. You said in another post that you want to replace the deck. The cost of replacing the deck and a bose amp/speaker is the same as getting a new system. The bose system design is 25 years old. It was made of poor quailty materials and cut alot of corners when produced. It was junk and outdated by alomost 10 years the day it was put into an '84. Get a new deck. $3-500 for CD and 4 speakers would get you a system that has much higher sound quality than the blose.

Ditch the stock Bose system and buy a good HU with four interior speakers. If you are looking to save money run them off the HU. You will notice a very big difference. Your old paper speakers were 18 years old. Leave a piece of cardboard out for 18yrs, see how it holds up.
