90% of the stuff you find is actually just "dead mass" meant to "add mass" to panels to reduce vibration.

this is the actual sound killing stuff http://b-quiet.com/vcomp.html

if you are serious about sound deadening, do a layer of b-quiete extreme then a laeyr of this

it will make the floor thicker, though

Lowes sells a stuff thats a less dense foam, much thinner, called Frost King. i think the Frost King stuff isnt really worht your time to tkae the car apart for, though.

I'm getting serious about putting a stereo in my car and want to do it right. How much weight do you think the stuff will add to the car? Do you put it on everything or just the floor panels? How about the doors do you put it on the inside of the doors or just the outside?

I used Cascade Audio VB4 on all flat surfaces and put VB3 over the drive hump and was very pleased with the results. :yesnod:

I like B-Quiet "Brown-Bread". It is the same thing as Dynamat Extreme but less than half the price. It dampens both resonant frequencies (vibration) as well as deflects sound waves, converting it to heat energy. Whereas it will be quieter inside the car it will also increase the db level in there too. That means you will get higher SPL and db levels from lower volumes.

Yes, put the sound dampener on the floor pan throughout the car as well as the doors. Put at least 2 layers of it too. Egg crate foam padding under the door panel (on top of the sound dampener) will eliminate vibration from it against the doorframe.

You can find really good deals on Brown-Bread at ebay. Here is the website for you to read up on it:

Man that stuff sounds good. But it is a little expensive. (VB3 in particular). How thick is this stuff? I know brown bread is some pretty thin stuff 1.6 mm i think they said. If the thickness gets too thick wouldn't you have a problem re-installing stuff? Problems with panels and things fitting?

Check ebay, there are several different guys selling no-name Dynamat for as low as $1/sq ft. I'm getting ready to order 100sq ft and do the entire car with it.

Both the VB3 adn VB4 are 1/4" thick. There was no problem getting the carpet to lay back down over the VB4. The interior trim pieces fit rather "snug" over the VB3 but they do fit without much effort. :yesnod:

Dynamat Extreme is .45 lbs/sq ft. I used 144 sq ft. to do all of the interior - so that was 64.8 lbs!
