Default Quick Tips for Audio

Hope you guys can help me out.

I am looking to change out the stock system over the winter. Could someone give me what I need in template form that will work together:

Speaker(s) Front:
Speaker(s) Rear size:
Sub?
A amp?
A reciever/CD?

I am about as confused as possible and am looking to spend around $1200.

Many thanks!

First of all, if you're spending $1200, don't be confused. Do your research. This is a good place to start, but don't take what people on here say as gospel. You'll get good advice, but before you buy anything, go to an audio store and listen to their setups. Play around with the head units and make sure you like the one you're getting. Then once you've figured out what you want, go get it for way cheaper on the web.

Figure you need to decide what you want/need first.
Front speakers are probably going torun you somewhere around $3-400.
Deck you should go with $2-300. Amp $4-500. and $200 for a sub. Then you need installation materials, and labor if you aren't doing it yourself.
I don't know the sizes, etc. for speakers on a Z06 so I can't recommend specifics.

Thanks for the replies.

More than anything I just need a starting point or at least an understanding of what is needed. I just don't want to walk into a stereo outlet and be overwhelmed with options.

I am not happy with current system it's missing a richness that I expect.

Thanks again for our time and effort.

Three important things to remember.. :D

1) Buy online from a reputable source and save money. A lot of it. Seriously. A lot. I saved $600 on my front speakers by buying on line.
2) Use only front speakers, and listen to every brand you can. CDT, Focal, Rainbow, MB Quartz, Dynaudio, Boston, etc.
3) Fuse at the battery unless you like wire fires.
