Default Hit on the haed

C6 GS Convertible with Nav and Bose system.
I'm going to change out the Bose 5.25s behind the seats for some 2 ways.
Question is, what is the best way to set the top and the tonneau cover up and out of the way, and ensure the won't lose pressure and drop on me? Removal not an option.
When I stop the motion with both fully up, the top will come smashing down after a few minutes. Without warning! The toneau cover will stay in place it seems.
Thanks.

Use a strap to hook it and secure to your muffler tips?

Really not worth the trouble to replace the rears only. Mono signal, not enough power from the bose unit for aftermarket speakers. Plus I believe the top blocks them when it is down. Not an opinion from personal experience in a vert, but just from reading complaints from vert owners.

I tried the muffler tips, but found ........ 🤪

When I had to have my top stay up, I used a strap around the top only. It held in place just fine not allowing the top to move down. Be careful when removing the strap when finished. You have to hold the top up in place and operate the top up/down switch at the same time.

Hope this helps.

I agree with Vince. Not worth ONLY doing rear speakers. A lot of work for no gains.

Okay, let me ask the follow up question.
Again, this is for my 2012 C6 GS Convertible - Bose Nav system.
I'm thinking that with so many C6s (and C7, C5, etc.) and so many owners who are let's say 'dissatisfied' with the Bose system, that someone must offer a direct replacement for the factory amplifier. You know, same, or near same, size to fit in the existing spot in the passenger floor space.
I'm not looking to add electronics in the limited space in the trunk or behind the seats. I prefer to keep that space for luggage, travel bags. picnic coolers, etc.
I've used my considerable Internet skills, but some times 'a little help from my friends' is the best thing.

I originally thought about changing out the rear speakers on my 05 vert to some better ones, but I decided that with the space that was available there to build a custom sub woofer to fit in there instead to get that much needed bass that these cars lack, I also removed the stock XM tuner behind the water fall since it can't be used with an aftermarket head unit and modified the bracket it was mounted to so I could mount the sub woofer amp to it. So after a few revisions to my original design, here's what I came up with for mine, it sounds awesome.

As far as supporting your top so it doesn't come down on your head, I supported mine with a bungee cord as shown here, mines a manual top however but I believe it should work with the power top also, but I don't know that for sure.

Here's a thread that can answer your questions and give you ideas on how to upgrade your sound system and use the factory amp location. Just get these amps or some that are similar in size. If you're not adding a rear sub, then you just need a single 4 channel.

Thanks everyone, for the useful information.
If you own a Corvette, this forum is as essential as wheels and tires.

The convertible power top will stay up the same way as the manual top. I did it the same way when installing my Wind Restrictor.
