C5freak's question sparked my interst. I am also in the market for a new amp and would like to know what brand is the favorite among Corvette owners (or any other car owner for that matter) ? oops I hit the go button before I was finished added the choices. Feel free to add your favorite
my favorite amps have been phoenix gold or zapco, zapcos have always been one of the cleanest car amps in the business and phoenix gold one of the strongest. i'm using the fan cooled zx series in my vette & would say they are similar to the zapcos in sound quality just with bigger *****.
For subs I supose. If so, don't waste money on high-end Zapco or ARC Audio amps for just a sub. Now if you had $5-10k or more wrapped up in a SQ system and money burning a hole in your pocket, then go for it. Rockford, JL, older Kicker, Phoenix Gold all make good clean power amps for subs. Leave the ARC, PG ti series, and top-oiline Zapco (reference?) on the shelf. Personally, I would drop the Audiobahn like a bad habit, but thats just IMHO

:iagree: :yesnod: It all depends on what you're powering.
Arc ain't cheap. But they do use a c5 to advertise :D
the ARC 2100's msrp is $399
It's rated at 100x2, but makes more like 150x2
it is stable at 2 ohms in stereo mode.
in bridge mode it puts out at least 380x1
Only use an ARC to power a subwoofer if you plan on using the ARC for something else later on.
Well in that case, I'll have to direct the current course as follows.
Audio Art 100HC's rated at 50 by 2 into 4 ohms
measured at 1120 watts into a 1 ohm mono load
$799

I have a Sony that no one seems to like. It's a 5 channel amp 4x50 1x160 that I power my Polks and Infinity sub with. I only paid $189 from Ikes and I'm real happy with it .. but I'm not an audiophile either :jester
have many of you voters tested the amps listed? it bothers me alpine and phoenix gold have similar votes. the quality difference is similar to a mustang and corvette :skep:

ARC kills them all mho, but most people who vote haven't owned all the equipment in the list, and maybe only a couple brands, and they pick their favorite out of that. If I didn't know better and owned a RF and Sony, but the list was RF, Sony, Mcintosh, Zapco.. I'd probably vote RF. :jester
