'91 speaker pods question
Thanx!
It does allow good airflow. I have only completed the driver side with an Alpine SPR-175a 5 1/4 component. It had a rediculous 2.75 mounting depth and I dremmeled forever. I had to gain more clearance for the larger driver and tweeter housing I finally decided to use. It's a miracle, a true Bose FRANKENPOD, completely wrapped in Dynamat with lot's O' caulk.
I'm sure my leg circulation loves the huge magnet it's next to. BTW The Fabric is suprisingly tame when the woofer fires, hardly any flopping or flappin down there. Bass is more visceral but as I predicted, not necessarily worth the upgrade to a larger driver set.
These were in my 90. Still have the right side to go, I'll try to get a pic. If anyone has done this, post some pics.
I'm still aiming the 1" and they sound sweeter and laid back, almost to a flaw. I don't blame the fabric. I think aiming these is tough. I think Bose used the stock position tweeter the best they could or maybe not? So far I think the cheapest, simpler approach is to do the 4 x 6 plates broken down,
If you want to work at it, keep posting here.
