Default Speaker upgrade question

Hi everybody,
Not sure if I'm posting this in the right place, but I am upgrading my whole stereo system in my C5. I bought 4 door speakers and am looking for the right 4 channel amp. My front 2 speakers are 75 watts max RMS, and the rears are 35 watts max RMS. I know I want a four channel amp but am unsure of the watts I need. If I buy a 60 watt amp rms per channel that would be great for the fronts, but wouldn't that be too much for the rears that are 35 watts max RMS? I've been out of the speaker game for a minute, just trying to get me knowledge back again lol. Thanks
Also, I haven't taken the old ones out yet, but the rears in a '00 FRC are 5.25 right? And if so, will 6.5 fit with an adapter or something? Thanks again!

You’ve come to the right place, for an amp one usually tries to get an amp which is capable of putting out more power then the speakers need. The cause of most blown speakers is the an underperforming amplifier. Having an amp which has ‘head room( more power then required) is a good way to keep the system healthy.

I believe the rear speakers in the C5 are 6.5”. You might consider upgrading them. If I were you I’d be looking for a quality 4 channel amp that puts out 100x4. You will be able to give the fronts a good 75w RMS and all you need to do is turn down the rear gain( in laymen’s terms an electric power control **** on the amp) on the current rear set of speakers to safe levels or if you upgrade turn up the gain on the amp giving them as much as 100w.

The rears in an FRC are 5.25".I don't think there is enough room back there to go with the 6.5".At least I don't remember any when I replaced my rear speakers.

NY C6 is pretty much spot on. Find a good HU unit with all the features you want, and then a decent 100/4 with some what ever speakers you want. Slap them in and start looking for a deal on a subwoofer and amp. TRUST ME...a subwoofer will be needed.
