The new second generation V1 is extremely quiet on K band now, does an amazing job of filtering out BSM signals from newer vehicles. It can also be updated thru bluetooth. I still have my first gen V1, latest updates, and its no comparison to the new one. Depending on where you live, you may be able to run with the K band turned completely off. The Uniden R3/R7 are also top shelf detectors and honestly just as good as the V1. If you live in an area that uses MultaRadar (MRCD, MRCT), Uniden or Radenso are the better choices, as V1 does not currently do a good job detecting it.

I would suggest checking out Vortex radar postings. a lot of good info on some of those forum posts.
Escort Redline 360c is very popular - as is Valentice 1 Gen 2 (V1G2), and the Uniden R3 / R7. Most detectors today are updatable via software - and the updates have made a couple of mid pack detectors a lot better.

I've been on the search too. The V1 set up seems to be a bit quirky and if it's not set up correctly, it might be why your not satisfied. Valentine CS seems to suck. Uniden CS seems to be the good.

You definitely need to use an app or two to get the full potential out of the V1G2, well worth the minor inconvenience of setting them up.

R3. I've been running mine since they came out, and I'm very happy with it. Out of the box it's good, but once you customize it some, it's great. Ka I leave alone, but I turn off X, and drop sensitivity on K down to about 50%. I also change the alert tones so that Ka is very attention grabbing, and K is much less so (K is not used much in our area). It would be great to have the arrows with the R7, but for almost twice the price I just don't see that much value in them.
