Howdy all. I'm beginning to look into removing my old Bose system (speakers and all, I know) and put in another system from the ground up. I've read the C4 FAQ, which has a small handful of things I can use, but given that a few of the links are dead as well as the fact the guide seems to mostly focus on the 90's models moreso than the 80's, I'm a but stumped on where to start. I'd also like to look for a general guide to car audio systems, since I'd like to hold a better understanding before I seriously go and get any components. The bigger hurdle is that I'm being picky. I really don't want a modern radio system in my car at all, they all look like garbage in my opinion and they'll stick out like a sore thumb in my dash. I'm looking at vintage radio/cassette units from the era (eyeballing a few kenwoods) and I'm willing to send such a unit in to a repair shop to have it refurbished if needed. I also want to try finding something with those LCD equalizers, or put one in alongside the unit if I can fit it. It's not a requirement, though.
This is something I can take my time on getting everything for before I try throwing it all in there, I just need an idea of how it would go together before I buy anything. My biggest concern is how the wiring hookups work on the Bose compared to any other system.
