Help me choose speakers
I need you help choosing speakers for my uncle's C5 install ... in this thread: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=455980 I asked about install for a BMW X5 ... but my cousin changed his dad's mind on what car to do the install in ... it is now a 1997 C5 Corvette
After listening to the Focal Utopia line next to the Polykevlar's ... the difference is too small to the 3 of us to warrant the extra cost. Since we want to but from a local dealer because of warranty issues ... the saving of money using online shops is not in the question ....
Now ... the speakers that we have narrowed it down to are:
1) Focal Polykevlar 165 K3
2) MB Quart PSD 316
I know that each has it's pro's and con's ... but please suggest one of the two ... obviously ... if money was no object ... the Utopia's would be purchased ... but money is an object ... and the two choices above would be the BEST choice for under $700 ( I could never imagine anyone spending more on a set of speakers for a car ... for a home I would ... but a car is not an ideal sound stage -- do not take any offense if you have spent that much) ... I consider the Focal Utopia's the "Lamborghini" of car audio ... but the Polykevlars and the PSD 316's the "Ferrari" of car audio ...
There will be no rear speakers installed but a subwoofer will be ... the amplifier's will both be JL Audio ...
Thanks ...

What about CDT? I just ordered a pair of their HD 5's
Have you heard the MB Quartz? They're kind of tinny and peaky mho.
I wouldn't spend $700 on a pair of speakers either.. my utopes were $430 + shipping :)

I have heard them all ... and if it were my car ... I would wait and save for the 165W3's ... but this is my uncles car ... and those are the 2 he liked ...
I personally think that the MB Quarts are to metallic ... the Polykevlar's are nice ... but none are at the level of the Utopia's ...
