So I think I'm going to buy a radar detector. As of now, I plan on going with Uniden R7. And want to do the mirror mount. A couple of questions. The R7 seems to be a bit bulkier than others. For those that have this set-up, does it block your vision? Are there better mount options? And are you pleased with the R7?

I don't have the R7 but I have the mirror mount and yes it does block the view a bit, but I'm pretty tall (6' 5") but I've gotten used to ducking a little to look under it. It might not be as bad if you are a shorter person. You can wire the detector to the mirrors wiring which only has power when the cars running and makes for a cleaner looking install, you just tap into pin 8 (black) for the - ground wire and pin 13 (pink) for the + positive wire, here's a drawing showing the mirror connector.
