I have been checking heads and the alpine 7893 is what I am going to go with.It has 60 peak and 27rms watts,105 sound noise ratio.Anyone have this head and what are your thoughts about it?
Now I need figure which speakers to go with. Some here say go with plate speakers instead of coaxial.I don't know what the difference is.Also what sixe will fit my 89 vert door mounting holes?
After checking Sound Domain I think I am going with the cdt cambria cax500 speakers on sale for 119.95.The speakers are 35rms,70 peak,91.5db.
They are 5 1/4 speakers and I wonder will they fit ok in my front doors?Well from another thread I saw nevermind said the 5 1/4 will fit.Now just to send off for the goodies. As usual this forum has been a great help. Thanks all and wave on! \ ////
I have the 7894 in my 90. MP3 capability is worth the mula. Used component Alpine SPR 135a 5 1/4" in the the pods with 175a 6 1/2" in the stock ported rear panels, skipped the rear tweeters..drivers only. Super clean sounding, good matching system with the Alpine speakers. Theoretically, the head unit load should be matched with what the engineers had in mind, namely the same brand speakers if possible.
Got it all for under $500 using ebay, opted for the older model Alpine components as they were super cheap and just as good. Highly recommend this system for the price. The Bose pods were reluctant to take the oversized 135's but I made em fit.
Lots of people have that unit. Good basic unit. I would add an amp and not worry about the deck's power. I don't know ANY head units with enough power to really make quality speakers perform properly. Remember, a unit that is 45wx4 that is a deck is really about 15wx4 in amp and speaker terms as they rate differently. You addressed this in your memo but to get most speakers to perform you would want to give them something like 50w continuous.
