Default Kenwood/USB ports

I am in the process of installing a Kenwood DDX9903S into my 2012 Base vette. There are 3 USB cables coming out of the HU. One is labeled iPod, one is USB and one is HDMI. I want to get rid of the cigarette lighters in the car and know I will need to get some adapters for the cables to mount into the cigarette lighter openings. I will put the one marked iPod into the AUX port in the console. Already have that adapter to use the existing plug. My question concerns the HDMI cable. If I understand the owners manual for the HU, that cable is only for mirroring my iPhone or android. Is that correct? If that is the case that will tell me if I want to put the HDMI connection in the dash cigarette lighter opening or just lay it into the glove box. Just trying to make a clean install now, while it is all apart. Any ideas/opinions welcomed. Thx.

I do not have a picture but I put my HDMI input into the ashtray area. I also have a USB input and a USB charger (this one in place of the lighter) so when the door is closed, nothing is visible. My Android phone will not mirror via USB or HDMI and I was told it is because it is not MHL compatible. I had to call Crutchfield customer service and that is what they told me. I looked up MHL and sure enough, mine is not MHL compatible.

I don't know if this helps but I thought I'd throw it out there.

Rokket, you answered my question. Exactly what I thought about doing when I woke up at 3AM this morning! A member on the C6 section linked me with a USB/HDMI plug that I will put into the cig lighter. Another USB will go into the aux spot in the console. I was thinking about getting rid of the cig lighter in the console until I was reminded that my air compressor ( which I hope to never need has to have a cig lighter for power. I think I have it figured out. Thank You Sir!

You're welcome.

I ordered this and made a hole for it in the plastic behind where the ashtray would have been

I also put this in next to the above. It is USB-C in the ashtray but adapted to HDMI before it gets to the head unit's HDMI via the USB C to USB C

Putting in the Kenwood DMX958XR (2003 coupe), so using this in place of the armrest power outlet, with short patches to the HU:
