Default dash speakers for an early c4

i did away with the bose and does anyone think it's worth putting 4x6's in the dash along with the door and rear speakers and a 40ish 4 way amp. the car has real dual's with no cats and no name performance mufflers so its reasonably loud. ive got a pair of 5x7s from an old car that i only used for a few months, what would it take to make these work, it would be nice to get these out of the way

no

but i think its worth it to put a nice set of 6.5 components up front (good ones like CDt, Focal, Dynaudio, or even JL XR650) or 5.25 if you dont want to cut, a nice 100x2 amp for them, and a subwoofer in the rear.

ive done it both ways... :)

:iagree:
Put a set of coax up front in the doors and leave the dash alone. If you want to go up to a set of seperates, mount the mids in the doors and tweeters in the dash to avoid cutting and get good sound. Having more than one set of mids and tweets in the front in different locaitons will kill your stereo seperation and they will be competing with each other, not complimenting.

I didn't bother putting speakers in the dash. It would be a huge headache!

Never waste your money on 4x6 coaxial speakers; they suck a large pile of elephant dung. If you must use speakers of that dimension use either 4x6 plate speakers or a 4" component set mounted on a fabbed plate. You can put separates in the dash and the doors but you must have the crossover point's cutoff perfectly while preferably using time delays or else you can have quite a messy imaging problem like mentioned above. However, done correctly can result in a very sweet soundstage. Keep your midbass low in the door (early C4 you said?) to draw the sub bass from the back to the front. If you don't use subs in the rear then you might want to put some decent 2-way 6x9's in the back. Amp everything on a decent aftermarket amp not the HU.

As for what brands to buy....that's another post. :seeya
