I installed a Sony HU yesterday in my C6 and left the door chime unplugged..... wow, I don't miss it at all. Peace and quiet. 🤫 Having said that, is there any reason it needs to be plugged in? Does the chime alert anything other than the door being open?
If you're using the PAC RP5-GM11 interface, the chime module has a volume adjustment on it that you can turn down to your liking, I suggest you leave it connected because of all the others things it can notify you about as mentioned previously. If it's still to loud for you after turning it down, you can cover it with a piece of tape to quite it down even more.
I appreciate all of the responses. I had not thought about these reasons to keep it plugged in. I am in fact using the PAC RP5-GM11 and will plug it back in and adjust the volume.

On the chime volume adjustment 1 is the loudest and 4 is the softest. One other thing I suggest is connecting a USB to the interface and leaving it connected then tucking it in behind the dash somewhere so you can access it easily later to do firmware up dates to the interface as needed, that way you don't have to pull everything out again to up date it.
