I know you're suppose to leave the tweeter as close to the mid as you can in a comp set, but how bad would it mess everything up by putting it in the slots for the 4x6's in the top of the dash? Or would it just sound better in the kick panel?
and Nevermind, thanks for helping me out with my newbie questions :)
Well.. you know.. it depends on the set. A set of CDT's probably wouldn't mind too much. I hear Adira KODAS are designed for that kind of thing (i havent heard the set though) but if you used, say, Focals, it'd sound really funked up.
For the kick panels 5 1/4 is going to be a very tight fit. Have you thought of putting them in the doors? Kick panel to dash speaker loc. is about 18". You could try the tweeters there. It would be closer if the 5 1/4 were mounted up in the doors. Have experimented w/ 4X6 in the kicks, plates would work well there. Prefer 5 1/4 components.
It seems to me that 5 1/4 low in the doors & tweets in the kicks may be best.
Would like to add 5 1/4 components in the front (components in the back now), however on a 68-77, 4" would be much easier to fit concealed in the doors.
