Default Front Speaker Question

I'm going with 5-1/4" components in the kick panels, and I was wondering about advantages or disadvantages of also running 4x6's with them?

TIA

I know you're suppose to leave the tweeter as close to the mid as you can in a comp set, but how bad would it mess everything up by putting it in the slots for the 4x6's in the top of the dash? Or would it just sound better in the kick panel?

and Nevermind, thanks for helping me out with my newbie questions :)

Well.. you know.. it depends on the set. A set of CDT's probably wouldn't mind too much. I hear Adira KODAS are designed for that kind of thing (i havent heard the set though) but if you used, say, Focals, it'd sound really funked up.

6.5" comps won't fit, so the kodas are out, maybe I'll look into the CDT's then...

I love them. I wouldn't go any other way if I was to do it all over again.

I'm running over 115 watts per side. i think something like 125-130. I'll have to find the birthsheet, but the amp is rated 115x2.

Right now I have them at 80hz and up. I ran them at 70 no problem, but with my sub I can run them higher.

For the kick panels 5 1/4 is going to be a very tight fit. Have you thought of putting them in the doors? Kick panel to dash speaker loc. is about 18". You could try the tweeters there. It would be closer if the 5 1/4 were mounted up in the doors. Have experimented w/ 4X6 in the kicks, plates would work well there. Prefer 5 1/4 components.

It seems to me that 5 1/4 low in the doors & tweets in the kicks may be best.
Would like to add 5 1/4 components in the front (components in the back now), however on a 68-77, 4" would be much easier to fit concealed in the doors.

68-77 has different door panels than 78-82.

I think I'm going to get adventurous and make custom fiberglass kicks to hold a 6.5" comp set, either CDT HD62 or Adire Koda.

yep, so did I, but I'm waiting for some more reviews, preferably one that pits the Kodas against the CDTs...hehe
