Alpine 7998 owners...............
I just bought a 7998 for my C5, which i have not got yet but was wandering if there are special setting or something that would help me get the best out of my stock door speaker and my JL audio 12?? Anyone have any input? Can't wait for the thing to get here

alright, your going to have to explain the no amp thing some more?? sorry i don't know much about car audio. I do have Phionex Gold 300 running my 12. :confused:

The Alpine7998 has no amplification built in to run speakers. In order for your door/rear speakers to work, you need either a 2 channel(just front speakers) or a 4 channel(front and rear) amp.

The 7998 is an unpowered unit.
You will have to get an amp to make it work.
If you want speakers, Focal, CDT or Boston Acoustic are nice options.

baldie: if you don't mind how much are you paying for the door speakers and install of all of it?
Plus I do have a Phoniex Gold 300/2 would that be enough to run my sub and HU or would I have to upgrad? I hope this project doesn't set me back as much as it seems like its going to :(

My total price: Alpine 7998($599), JL 250/1($190), JL300/2($349), JL 10w3v2-d2($175), Focal 165k2's($300), Stealthbox and MDF mounts for the doors($140)
Total $1750+$500(Install)= $2250 give or take a couple of bucks

anybody have any suggestion for me, I have a PG 300/2 amp and a JL audio 12 and want to install a alpine 7998, how should i go about it??? Should I replace that amp with another or add another amp?? If so what would be enough power to run it?

I bought the 7998 and the JL300/2 from onlinecarstereo.com. The stealthbox and MDF's from Mike on this forum. Focal's and JL250/1 from Ebay. The JL 10w3v-d2 from, I think, subwoofer.com

I ordered the parts, it came promptly. Quick and painless. I ordered all the cabling and fuse blocks from partsexpress.com. Same results.

hey mrkln if you thinking about buying one of these Alpine 7998 I think I'm going to sell mine. I just don't have the cash to buy new door speakers and another amp right now. Let me know if you want it.

The Alpine is up for sale in the C5 Parts for Sale/Wanted section if any is interseted. I went to the audio place today and I just don't have the funds right now to be doing what I want done. :cry :cry Anyway the HU is still in the box, never been used.
