Kenwood WA100 Sub Wiring Help
Thanks
get it done. someone should know.
don't forget pics..... :D
keep :smash: away at it.
I ended up tearing it apart and figuring out the connections. The harness would have cost $49.00 + S&H. Over double what I payed for the speaker system. I went to Radio Shack and bought about $5.00 worth of supplies. Works and sounds great.
Here is the wiring scheme:
Looking at the speaker jack there are 10 male pins, configured in 2 rows of 5 pins.
There are also two RCA jacks (the system has a dual voice coil) that accepts a pre-amp out from your head unit or amp. Those are easy enough to figure out!
Now, for the jack wiring: Remember, you don't use pins 1 & 2 if you use the RCA Pre-Amp In jacks. If you have a pre-amp out on your stereo, and don't have an external amp, I highly recommend that you use the RCA jacks. It will free up more power from your head unit since it no longer has to drive as much bass.
Top Row, left to right as you are looking at it.
Pin 1: Left +
Pin 2: Right +
Pin 3: Remote On. (If your head unit or amp has this provision.)
Pin 4: Ground
Pin 5: +12VDC (If you don't use Pin 3, make sure this is a switched source)
Bottom Row, Left to Right
Pin 1: Left -
Pin 2: Right +
Pin 3: Not Used
Pin 4: Ground
Pin 5: +12VDC ((If you don't use Pin 3, make sure this is a switched source)
you don't really have to hook up Pins 4 & 5 on both rows, either row will work. The wire I used was too large of a gauge to properly fit in the Pins I used so I spit the wire and crimped the wire into 2 pins.
I will try to post some pictures if someone tells me how!
