Default thoughts on this setup for '13 gs with Bose

Hi to the experts here. I'm not the greatest with audio stuff, wanted some thoughts on this setup I'm thinking about purchasing. I am aware that the sub is potentially trash, but for the cost I plan on running it til the sub craps out then get a JL sub to replace it. Still cheaper than buying the stealth box with sub included...Trying to do this on the cheap-ish side of things, totally understand there might be better alternatives, but not looking to spend an absolute fortune on an audiophile quality setup. Just want something that sounds better than factory at a somewhat reasonable cost

Head Unit - Kenwood DMX958XR
amp: Rockford Fosgate R2-750x5 - https://www.crutchfield.com/S-f5WtqV...-R2-750X5.html
front speakers: NVX 3 way 6.5 components - https://www.sonicelectronix.com/item...XQS653KIT.html
alternate fronts: Focal 165as3 - https://www.crutchfield.com/p_091165...ce-165AS3.html
sub: NVX 10" w box - https://www.sonicelectronix.com/item...-GM-VETC6.html

Plan is to bridge the fronts, send 200w to each side @ 4ohm, and then 350w to the sub @ 2 ohm.

I'd really prefer to save the ~175 bux on the front speakers and go with the NVX instead of the Focals, but can't find many reviews. On the DIYMOBILEAUDIO forum, the folks seem to think there's a possibility of them being a decent value, but no real reviews that I can find. Maybe I'm a test dummy? Seems as if the brand has an ok reputation for a "budget quality" product.

So, any thoughts? Suggestions? Obviously there's more to purchase with the PAC unit, wiring, sound deadener, rearview cam, etc....but these are the important bits here that I'm looking for insight into.

Also - not sure a 1 1/8" tweeter will fit into the factory tweeter hole in the dash? Might be a deciding factor here, as I'm looking to reuse stock locations for speakers...

NVX is rated at 150w RMS, Focal 80W. I think the Focal will sound better, but you'll have too much power. The NVX tweeter is too big to fit without modifications.
Have you looked at Stereo Integrity line? They have a really nice 8", 3", and tweeter that will work. You cos run the amp in 4ch mode... 2ch to 8", and 2 ch to mids/tweeters. You'll need a xover for the tweeter.

dang. Yeah I was afraid that tweeter wasn't going to fit in the stock location. And I figured the Focals would sound better, just was hoping I could save that cash

Maybe I just bite the bullet, get the Focals, run them un-bridged at 100w off the amp, and have extra room in the amp for maybe some rears to add in the future if I decide to.

I just took a peek at the Stereo Integrity brand you mentioned, but given what I'm looking to manage from a dollar perspective, I think I'm probably better off buying the Focals.

At the end of the day it's only an extra 200 bucks, not a deal-breaker and probably better from the "buy once, cry once" philosophy.

Any thoughts on whether or not the Focal tweeter fits in the factory location? Looking at the specs on crutchfield, it needs a cutout of ~1 3/4" - thinking maybe that'll squeeze into the factory spot, but haven't ever pulled one to check

well I decided to just pop a tweeter out and see. Looks like the opening is right at about 2" so should be able to fit the focals in there! def gonna take some rigging to make it look decent, though. Maybe can figure a way to make it work with the factory tweeter mount. chop off the old one and glue the new one on or something.

You could also run the Focal bi-amped. Run the woofers on two channels without the xover and then the other two channels to the xovers and then to the mids and tweeters.

oo cool idea, I dig it.

No doubt I'll have more questions, thank you for your help @VinceC5 .....sometimes it just takes a little nudge to get the confidence to pull the trigger!

Hoping to order everything here soon-ish!

Initially, because I'm too cheap for my own good, I was looking to get the Crutchfield interface (LINK)

I figure that would do everything I need, and I could figure out the parking brake thing probably easy enough (ground to head unit?)

But then it dawned on me that I think I've only ever seen one person on here use that interface, so I decided to go with the PAC RP5GM11 interface, as that seems to be the most used one.

Figured an extra 30$ would maybe pay off if I need any assistance from the experts if I hit an issue where I need help diagnosing by using a product that is time-tested and familiar to most, instead of the one that probably works just fine, but not nearly as "universally" used

Hey did you chop up the oem tweeters? I’m in need of a set of you still have yours.

Well...long story, but the short version is no - I still have a totally stock setup. Got the opportunity to pick up a few other items that I've been looking for in one of my other hobbies. Took all the cash (and then some...) that I was going to spend on audio, wound up buying something totally different

If/when I manage to ever get around to it, I'll keep you in mind. Goal is to not totally hack anything up, but we'll see when the time comes how it's gonna go
