Figured I would start a new thread on this specific topic for those looking to just upgrade their sub.
I have seen many pictures of the stock enclosure, but I haven't see any details on the port itself. (my reading tells me the stock enclosure is indeed ported) Has anyone dug in to the enclosure?
The sub I am installing is a JL Audio 8w1v3-4. The user manual specifies a ported enclosure of .5 ft^3 with a 2in I.D. x 10in long port. I am going to go out on a limb and say that's not what the factory enclosure has. So once I get it all apart I am considering adding a port tube to the box.
Has anyone done this? Any thoughts or suggestions?

My 2014 box is indeed ported. The port measures 1.5" x 3" x 6" long.

Curious about the sound difference between the stock sub vs. JL 8w1v3-4 sub, after the install?
What ohms was the stock sub?
Looks like you went with 4 ohms JL sub?
Not sure what the stock ohms are. I am not just doing a speaker swap though, i am replacing all of the speakers and adding JL Audio VXi amps. I can't wait to find out how it all sounds.. stay "tuned"....

Ok,nice... Vxi with built-in dps. Are you having tuned by using JL Audio's TuN software or Max?
Doing any sound insulation on cars floors, doors, etc?

I will be using Tun software with a UMIK-1 mic. And yes, doing sound dampening on floors and doors. Did tbe passenger side yesterday. Too hot and humid to work on it today. I'm taking my time on it since this is my first run at this, and I have other things to do 😀 but I can't wait to get it done. I'm excited about tbe actual tuning part.
