Documented Dynamat Installation, Stage 2

Conclusion:
Before Stage 2:
106-107 decibels cruising at 60 mph on highway
110 decibels when reaching 50 mph at full throttle in second gear.
After these steps:
100 decibels cruising at 60 mph on highway
105 decibels when reaching 50 mph at full throttle in second gear.
Stage 1: Documented at
http://home.1asphost.com/matthouston/Dynamat/index.htm I did not get enough benefit from Stage 1 to recommend it. The cost of the Dynamat for that stage (it consumed the entire $120 bulk pack) and the time involved were too high.
Stage 2:
Partition: Definitely worth it. The majority of the noise reduction was due to the partition. This is based on comparison of noise with partition removed and not removed (with Dynamat installed either way).
Dynamat: I believe this was worth it. Even without the partition installed, the road noise appears to be less. I am getting much more reduction of noise than with the Eckler’s partition I returned (though this is subjective). I only used 40% of the Dynamat bulk pack (buy it on eBay) and this Stage went fairly quick.
Total Cost:
2 packs of Dynamat bulk pack @ $120 each. (1 for Stage 1 and 40% of one for Stage 2)
Medium density fiberboard $6 at Home Depot
Carpet from Pep Boys: $10
Total = $256
