C5Z speaker replacement
I don't want to add an amp or bypass a lot of the system. Just want some bolt in speaker upgrades if possible.
Plan is to get 3.5" coaxial for doors and some 5.25" coaxial for the rear. The 8" door "sub" is my hangup. I don't want a true sub which needs an external amp etc.

JBL GX525
Is there a bolt in option for the 8" door speakers anyone knows about? I understand that the front 3.5" and rear 5.25" are ran off the HU and the 8" door speakers are ran off a mini amp at the door? Is there an option to run a single coaxial 6.5" or maybe a custom mount 6x9" and run it off the HU?

- Multipower BCD technology
- High output power capability:
- 4 x 48 W/4 Ω Max.
- 4 x 28 W/4 Ω @ 14.4 V, 1 kHz, 10 %
- 4 x 72 W/2 Ω Max.
- MOSFET output power stage
- Excellent 2 Ω driving capability
- Hi-Fi class distortion
- Low output noise
I guess this means I can find speakers in the 2 Ohm-4 Ohm range.
May have to call in the experts @GCG on this one so I don't buy the wrong speakers lol.

If you were happy with the sound before, then just replace the bad speaker.
I'm not against replacing the original 8" midbass speaker with a OEM in good working order, but if there was a simple solution for a slight upgrade I'd do it. I'm just not into wanting to deal with running new wires from the HU to the 4 locations then having to put in a crossover at the doors to split the high/mids/lows etc etc.
Many report a nice sound improvement with replacing the front 3.5" and rear 5.25".
