My audio install took a wrong turn when my battery coincidentally died. When I removed the battery I found a broken positive terminal clamp. It was somehow secured by a washer in place of the broken factory clamp. I can’t adjust it to get it right enough to be stable. I can’t adjust twist the clamp on the terminal or just pull it straight off. Anyone have a fix for this? Maybe I’m just not positioning the washer in a way that will allow it to tighten? Does anyone know if these clamps were used on other gm cars where I can source one? The broken piece appears to be replaceable. I just want to drive my car and listen to tunes.

I hear you and I may very well do that. The factory cable is all covered up with tape and plastic. Is the clamp just crimped on and easily removed? I went to the kicker website and it looks pretty simple to put theirs on.

First off, I didn't even think to search this issue and found some forum threads which later answered my own question. Thanks to those who did respond with advice and provide some options for a fix. Much appreciated. The Dorman terminal adjuster is definitely not a long term fix. It's a b*tch trying to get that little tab far enough through that slot for it to really tighten up on the post. By the time I get done bending, hammering and what not I'll need another solution. Good enough to get through my radio install but something like that kicker terminal is in my near future. Trying to replace those and get that tab lined up with the slot, after you've bent it to get the original one off, and get it all lined up like it was originally, is a major PIA. If there is a best practice for this, I would love to hear it.
